Yoshihiro Togashi resumes work on the manga ‘HUNTER X HUNTER’

After a long hiatus HUNTER x HUNTER manga, which has left fans eagerly awaiting its return, confirmed mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi’s latest post on his official Twitter account that he has resumed work on the series.

Togashi took to Twitter on May 1, 2024 to share the news, saying: “No405、やっております。ムーン・ヒーリング・エスカレーション!,” roughly translated to “No. 405, I’m working on it. Escalation of Moon Healing!“.

This tweet marks Togashi’s first update since October 2, 2023, when he gave fans the latest update on the series’ progress. The manga’s hiatus began after the publication of Chapter 400 on December 18, 2022.

On November 20, 2023, he announced the end of HUNTER x HUNTER to the guests of TV Asahi’s popular variety show Iwakura and Yoshizumi in case he were to die before the manga’s completion.

The author revealed three planned endings of the HxH manga – A, B and C, all of which will have different levels of fan satisfaction.

Hunter × Hunter is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since March 1998, although the manga has regularly gone on extended hiatus since 2006.

The chapters have been collected into 37 tankobon volumes as of November 2022. Hunter x Hunter manga had returned from a long hiatus of almost four years on October 24, 2022, and went on hiatus again in December 2023.

Hunter × Hunter was adapted into a 62-episode anime television series produced by Nippon Animation and directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, which ran on Fuji Television from October 1999 to March 2001.

Three separate original video animations (OVAs) totaling 30 episodes were subsequently produced by Nippon Animation and released in Japan from 2002 to 2004.

A second Madhouse anime television series aired on Nippon Television from October 2011 to September 2014, running for a total of 148 episodes, with two animated theatrical films released in 2013.
