Carl B. Mellott – Fulton County News

Carl B. Mellott, 92, McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at home.

He was born on August 15, 1931 in Laidig, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Silas D. Mellott and Ruth K. (Foreman) Mellott Schooley. He married Carol Swope on October 24, 1964 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He served in the United States Navy for fourteen years until his honorable discharge. He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot and retired in 1986 after 24 years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in McConnellsburg, McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., Mt Zion Lodge F&M 774, Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars #145, Jaffa Shrine and the McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol S. Mellott, McConnellsburg; three sons: Stephen C. (husband of Gwendolyn) Mellott, Greencastle; Kevin S. Mellott, McConnellsburg; and Eric T. Mellott, McConnellsburg; four grandchildren: Luke, Sydney, Ashley and Andrew); two great-granddaughters: Ruby and Ella; and his special niece, Deb (wife of Mike) Sprague, Harrisonville; and children: Kelsey (wife of Ron and children Mila and Cristiano), Morgan (wife of Bennett) and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Mellott and Ruth Schooley; two siblings: Marlin Clair Mellott and Reba M. Edwards; and two little brothers.

The family would like to thank Deb Swope for her loving care, kindness and devotion to Carl.
