Stunt driving: Ottawa driver going 199 km/h on Highway 417 faces charges, police say

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says an Ottawa driver is being caught doing 199 km/h on Highway 417 on Tuesday evening.

“These types of speeds are extremely dangerous,” the OPP said on X.

Police say the driver was stopped after clocking the high speed on the highway east of Moodie Drive. The speed limit on the highway is 100 km/h. 417 through Ottawa.

They are facing a charge of stunt driving. The charge includes a 30-day suspension of the license holder and the vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.

The driver must appear in court. Police did not say when.
