Mary J. Blige talks about quitting music

Mary J. Blige talks about the future of her career and when she plans to hang up the mic.

During a recent interview, Blige explained, “Right now I’m definitely going to do some more acting and in five or six years I’m definitely going to retire,” Blige shared. ADDITIONAL. “Right now I’m still doing what I do, but not as often as I used to do it because it’s no longer necessary.”

While she’s still making music, fans can expect a sweet love tune. The singer says: ‘Singing about life… love… being stable and understanding that you can have things like love. You can have a good life.”

“Especially the love I have for myself,” she said ADDITIONAL. “… My true love is me and I have found it.”

Blige has a lot of great things in store, as it was announced that she will be inducted into the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She will be inducted alongside Cher, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest, and more.

Blige said she is “still trying to process everything.” To be honored, she says it is “the most amazing thing… it is in a league of its own.”

The queen of hip-hop soul will also perform at the ceremony. It will take place on October 19 in Cleveland.
