New firmware now available for USB-C Apple Pencil

Apple released the first firmware update for the USB-C Apple Pencil on Tuesday. The new firmware has a version number of 10M6060, up from 10M5164. After installation, the updated firmware version number is 37377.37377.16.0.

There’s no word on what features, fixes, or updates might be included in the updated firmware. Apple does not provide release notes for software versions of ‌Apple Pencil‌.

The new Apple Pencil is compatible with all iPad models with a USB-C port, including iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th and 5th generations), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations) , iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generations) and iPad mini (6th generation).

A sliding cover reveals a USB-C port, allowing customers to use a USB-C cable to connect to the new Apple Pencil for pairing and charging. When the new Apple Pencil is magnetically attached to an iPad for storage, it goes into a sleep mode to extend battery life.

Although Apple has not announced a procedure for updating the ‌Apple Pencil‌ hardware. However, if you connect the USB-C ‌Apple Pencil‌ to an iPad with a USB-C cable and turn on the ‌iPad‌, the new firmware should be downloaded.
