U18s: Scott Bright preview Dundee (H)

Our under 18s will play their final match of the 2024/25 Club Academy Scotland Performance League on Friday.

The young team welcomes Dundee to the astroturf of McDiarmid Park (kick-off 5pm), knowing that a positive result can retain the league title.

Saints recorded an important win over second-placed Ayr United last Friday and are now determined to end the campaign in style.

“The most important thing that happened there was winning and getting the result,” captain Scott Bright said of last week’s win.

“Personally and as a team I don’t think it’s a great achievement. We played a lot better but in the end we got the job done and got the three points to get back to McDiarmid Park on Friday.

“Dundee will be good – and always has been, both in the U18s and in the younger years. It will be our last game as a group at the end of the season. And of course we want to end it well.”

Bright was one of a number of U18s on loan this season and he praised the younger members of the academy who have stepped up to keep the momentum of the competition going.

He said: “It’s been a bit of a season because a lot of us have been out on loan. We rarely all played at the same time.

“Now that we’re all back together, maybe it wasn’t there from the beginning last Friday. But it’s nice to have the whole team fit, available and together.

“The young people – even the U16s – deserve a lot of credit for getting us to the position we are in now.”
