Calcutta: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury asked people at an election rally on Wednesday to vote for the BJP instead of the Trinamool Congress in Berhampore. “Instead of voting for TMC, it is better to vote for BJP,” Chowdhury said.

This comment comes amid West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s repeated attacks on his INDI allies during her recent election rallies. She has urged people not to vote for the Congress or the CPM as Mamata claims they are the B-team of the BJP in West Bengal. “Forget our alliance in New Delhi. If you vote for the Congress or the CPM in Bengal, you are strengthening the BJP. Here, both the CPM and the Congress are the B-team of the BJP.”

The video was initially shared by TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev on

In the run-up to the elections, Adhir Ranjan and Mamata called each other’s parties the B-team of the BJP. The talks between the INDI allies collapsed when TMC decided to go solo on all 42 seats.

Adhir Ranjan has been an MP since 1999 and is pitted against former Indian cricketer and Trinamool’s Yusuf Pathan and renowned surgeon Dr. Nirmal Kumar Saha of the BJP.
