Taraji P. Henson brought star power – and sexy style – to Palm Springs, California!

Thursday is the Color Purple actress, 53, wore a bright green dress as she posed for photos on the red carpet at the 35th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the desert city’s Convention Center.

The bright green dress had glitter and a plunging neckline. Henson’s dress was form-fitting with loose sleeves that stopped just above her elbows.

Henson wore her hair slicked back in a high ponytail with earrings. She kept her accessories minimal and opted not to wear a necklace, instead showing off several rings on her fingers.

Henson completed her gala look with gold-embossed Una 90 leather mules from Malone Souliers.

Lenny Kravitz, Willem Dafoe, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell were among the other stars in attendance.

Among the evening’s winners was Emma Stone for her role in Poor thingsCillian Murphy for OppenheimerGreta Gerwig for BarbieColman Domingo for Rustin and Danielle Brooks for The color purple – which stars both Henson and Domingo, 54.

The color purple recently earned the second-biggest Christmas Day opening of all time. The musical, currently in theaters, is a film adaptation of the Broadway musical. It is based on the novel by Alice Walker, which was previously adapted for the big screen in 1985.

The Color Purple stars

In early December, the cast gathered for the film’s premiere in Los Angeles. The Warner Bros. production Pictures includes Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg as co-producers.

A synopsis for the remake reads: “A musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel about the lifelong struggles of an African-American woman living in the South in the early 20th century.” Henson plays Shug Avery, a sultry blues singer with a heart of gold who is adored by men and envied by most women.

Other performers in the star-studded cast include Halle Bailey, Fantasia Barrino, Corey Hawkins, David Alan Grier, Ciara, HER and Deon Cole.

While doing promo interviews for the film, Henson told Gayle King for SiriusXM radio that she was “tired of working so hard” and “getting paid a fraction of the cost.”

The actress’ comments about her past salaries went viral.

After the interview with King, Henson shared a photo of himself and Winfrey, 69, on Instagram. In her caption, she thanked her supporters for the outpouring of love, and the mogul for making her “feel heard.”

She said Winfrey “has been nothing less than a steady and solid beacon of light for ALL the CAST of The color purple!!! She has given us all ENCOURAGEMENT, GUIDANCE and UNWORTHY SUPPORT.”

Henson concluded by thanking the former talk show host: “She personally told me to contact her for ANYTHING I needed, and I did! It took ONE CALL… ONE CONVERSATION… and ONE DECISION TO MAKE A BLACK WOMAN to make me feel heard.”
